5th Doing Business In Japan Seminar

This year's "Doing Business in Japan" Seminar organized by JETRO Singapore for November 18 2004 will tread new ground, as it has invited a keynote speaker to share the company's success in the hospitality industry in Japan, a business that had long been thought to be inaccessible to outsiders.

JETRO has invited Ms Jennie Chua, President & CEO of Raffles Holdings Limited, to speak on company's experience in setting up business in Japan.

The highly-successful presentation, the fifth since 2001, will continue to address issues and concerns of companies that wish to explore investing or doing business in Japan and feature firms that have successfully entered the Japanese market.

Some 260 local and foreign businessmen and executives attended last year's event, which also featured a Japanese Local Government Showcase. It featured 15 Japanese prefectures and cities, namely Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Aichi/Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Kochi, Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Okinawa.

The seminar and accompanying exhibition, plus a business consultation program, will continue to be organized jointly by JETRO Singapore, IE Singapore, the representative offices of Japanese local governments and Singapore Manufacturers' Federation.
